Abstract pinking of tio2 pigmented pvc can be observed for profiles exposed to the mild environmental conditions of northern european countries. The reversibility of the discoloration chemistry has been demonstrated by placing the discolored plastic in uv rich light. Despite the obvious cosmetic failure of the produce there are no substantial deleterious effects on the mechanical properties of the bulk polymer and pinking does not indicate failure of the product in physical terms.
